AT&T issues ultimatum to smartphone subscribers

AT&T has issued an ultimatum to its smartphone subscribers that it is going to crack down on on illegal data tethering, which is a way to share your smartphone internet data connection with other devices. The company allows data tethering on special subscription, but it seems a large number of subscribers have been "stealing" the service.

This is bad news for smartphone users, most of whom believe that they should be able to use their data plan in any way they please. But AT&T and other service providers, who have ignored this misuse of their service until now, are not in the mood to tolerate it anymore. AT&T has warned its customers that if the company fails to hear from them within the stipulated time, then they will be automatically enrolled in the new DataPro 4G plan which includes fees for data tethering. So if you are use a smartphone and are a customer of AT&T, be prepared!
