Intel's push into the smartphone and tablet market has been so far unsuccessful, and the executive who was in charge of that business has now resigned. Anand Chandrasekher has handed the reins to Mike Bell and Dave Whalen, who will co-manage the group that is responsible for building Atom chips that go into smartphones and tablets. Another executive involved with the Atom processor departed last year, as well.

However, Intel executive vice president David Permutter has said that Intel remains committed to the processor and the smartphone business. He said that the company is upping investments that are needed to make their products more competitive, and they still maintain a goal of shipping a phone this year. Chandrasekher had become somewhat infamous for his repeated appearances at conferences over the past several years where he would wave a prototype smartphone or handheld device that never materialized.

How To Make Your iPhone Email Setup Secure

If your mobile device has Wi-Fi capability and you connect to unsecured Wi-Fi hotspots for internet access, you must ensure that any sensitive website you log into on your device, like iPhone email setup, is secured with SSL encryption. This is because mobile devices don't usually incorporate security features to directly combat Wi-Fi threats. If you don't know how to do this, you could get help from video tutorials such as those from O2 Guru.

Most public Wi-Fi hotspots are not encrypted, so it's easy for anyone within a certain range to eavesdrop on what you send and receive. For example, there are programs that listen for and show login credentials to unsecured sites like social networking and web-based or POP3/IMAP email accounts. If your data is encrypted with SSL, though, you don't have to worry. If you check your email through the browser or a client app on the device, then it is most likely already secured with SSL. If a website connection is secured, its address will begin with https:// instead of just http://.

AT&T has issued an ultimatum to its smartphone subscribers that it is going to crack down on on illegal data tethering, which is a way to share your smartphone internet data connection with other devices. The company allows data tethering on special subscription, but it seems a large number of subscribers have been "stealing" the service.

This is bad news for smartphone users, most of whom believe that they should be able to use their data plan in any way they please. But AT&T and other service providers, who have ignored this misuse of their service until now, are not in the mood to tolerate it anymore. AT&T has warned its customers that if the company fails to hear from them within the stipulated time, then they will be automatically enrolled in the new DataPro 4G plan which includes fees for data tethering. So if you are use a smartphone and are a customer of AT&T, be prepared!
